Action Cellular Rent A Phone
Acquires Largest San Francisco Competitor
(San Francisco, CA, August 1, 1997) Action Cellular Rent A Phone is
pleased to announce that it has acquired the Northern California
division of Cancall Cellular. Cancall, based in Vancouver, British
Columbia, is publicly traded on the Vancouver Stock Exchange. Upon
completion of the purchase, Scott Thompson, Cancall's San Francisco
General Manager, became Action's new Vice President of Sales.
According to company president Lee Dorfman, "The new larger Action
Cellular is well positioned to service San Francisco's enormous influx
of visitors. Our phones, which are rented on a daily or weekly basis,
are frequently ordered through the hotel concierges and business centers
throughout the city." In addition, Action provides cellular phones for
the record-breaking numbers of conventions at the City's Moscone Center.
Local service on Action's phones is provided by Cellular One.
Last year action was ranked
one of the San Francisco Bay Area's 100 fastest growing companies, and
Action expects that 1997 will be another record year.
